Mother Nature abounds with breathtaking sights.

In stunning images that have captivated Instagram users, a wildlife photographer highlights a small bird that looks like a bullet as it flies in the Czech Republic.

This bird is a common kingfisher, distinguished by its bright blue plumage with warm orange hues and its long, pointed, arrow-like beak.

Czech wildlife photographer David Zeman recalls, in an interview with CNN Arabic, sitting for hours on the banks of a river in one of the country’s quiet rural areas, patiently waiting for the perfect moment.

Zeman notes that there are designated birdwatching spots in his country that can be rented, where the chances of spotting kingfishers are significantly higher.

Zeman knew that spotting this bird wasn’t easy in most places; it was a dream for many birdwatchers around the world—a fleeting glimpse of the blue and orange hues. He noted that these were “brief moments, but they leave an unforgettable mark on the heart.”

One quiet morning, as the mist slowly lifted from the water’s surface, a kingfisher suddenly appeared. It darted down in a straight line, low over the water, like a blue bullet piercing the air, at a speed that could reach 40 kilometers per hour.

The bird landed on a branch low over the water, as still as a statue. Its eyes scanned the calm surface, but behind this stillness lay an extraordinary focus. In a flash, it swooped down into the water, gliding across the surface, and emerged seconds later with a small fish in its beak.

It wasn’t just luck, but the result of an astonishing visual ability that allowed him to judge depth and correct the refraction of light on the water’s surface, enabling him to hit his prey with incredible precision.

Zeman adds, “These beautiful shots are the result of patience, passion, and a dream realized in a place that knows how to preserve the secrets of beauty for those who seek them.”
