A photograph of a bird with its face covered in grass due to strong winds has won the People’s Choice Award in Nikon’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Competition.
The image, titled “Now which direction is my nest?”, by photographer Alison Tuck, captures a scene on a windy day at the Bimpton Cliffs in Yorkshire, England, during nesting season.
According to a statement released by the competition organizers on Wednesday, the photograph was chosen from a shortlist of 41 entries.
Tuck confirmed in the statement that she took the picture on a “very windy day.”
She added: “The wind was blowing from the sea, which prevented us from shooting from the boat. However, the wind worked in our favor, pushing the birds towards and up the cliffs, giving us a great opportunity to capture close-up and beautiful images of them gathering grass to build their nests.”
